AI and your data

For security and compliance, administrators 5 min read

What Ask ELOS can read, who controls it, and how your data is protected when AI is involved.

Your data stays yours. Ask ELOS reads only your organization's data, only what the person asking may see, and only the kinds of data your administrators allow.

Controls administrators set

In Workspace settings, Ask ELOS data access lists the kinds of organization data the assistant may use. Turn any of them off and Ask ELOS stops using it, for everyone in the workspace.

DataWhat it covers
Documents & runbooksIndexed runbooks, decision records and guides: the grounding every answer cites. Always on.
Service catalogServices, ownership, tiers, dependencies and catalog gaps
People directoryNames, roles, teams and lifecycle stage
OnboardingJoiners, their plans and time-to-productive readiness
IncidentsActive and recent incidents by service
AccessAccess reviews and drafting access requests for approval
Knowledge transferSuccession plans, successors and handover tasks

Protections that always apply

  • Your workspace only: Ask ELOS never reads another organization's data.
  • Your permissions: an answer uses only what the person asking can see, including their role's read scope.
  • No training on your data: ELOS does not train AI models on your data.
  • Drafts need a person: anything Ask ELOS drafts must be confirmed by a person and passes the same approvals.
  • Recorded: actions that follow from a draft are recorded in the audit log like any other.

Permissions for AI

Three permissions control AI per role: Use Ask ELOS, Use AI agents and Let AI draft actions. Remove them from a role to keep that role away from AI features. See the permissions reference.

What's next

  • Search sources as yourself: Have Ask ELOS and search read Confluence or GitHub with each person's own account, so the source decides what each person can see.
